Throwing & Raku Firing

First Session – throwing: Throwing and altering demonstration introducing faceting, adding texture, carving and stretching. Trimming your pot whilst still on the wheel. Introduction to characteristics of raku-ware and glazing ideas.

Second Session – glazing and raku firing: Demonstration of basic glazing methods before glazing your own work. Then we fire your work outside using a rapid-firing raku kiln and reduction bins. You will be able to take your work away with you at the end of the firing.

This course is not suitable for beginners. You should have intermediate throwing skills to take part in this workshop.

Important! Intermediate throwing skills are required for this workshop – you should be comfortable centering and throwing cylinder forms without guidance.
